U.K. Internships

Our 12-month internships are available to recent graduates and university students who are looking to complete a year in industry/placement as part of their degree course.

During your year with us, you’ll take on meaningful responsibilities in an area of our business while working in a supportive and encouraging environment. You’ll also be enrolled in our training programme that provides you with essential skills and knowledge to help you be successful both in the placement and onwards in your career.

CRITERIA
Undergraduate Placement Internships: 
  • You must be a current University student 
and in your 2nd year of university, looking to spend your 3rd year on placement 

  •  No previous experience is required but we want to see your passion for the industry 

  •  Available for 12 months, starting in July, and to work on a full-time basis 

Graduate Internships:
  • You must be a recent graduate (max. 3 years since graduating) 

  •  As with our Undergraduate opportunities, no previous experience is required but we want to see your passion for the industry 

  •  Available for 12 months, starting in July, and to work on a full-time basis

U.K. Internships
CNN London

CNN Worldwide, the world leader in news and information, is always looking for those who seek to inform, engage, and empower the world. Your diverse perspectives and talents can help shape CNN’s future. We offer several 6-month internships at our central London bureau.

Your primary responsibilities may include research, fact-checking, transcribing footage, assisting on shoots, contributing story and show ideas, attending planning and creative meetings, and sourcing images and footage. You’ll need a willingness to work hard and a commitment to the highest standards of journalism plus the skills listed below.
CRITERIA
In order to successfully apply, you should possess the following skills: 
  • Candidates should be detail-oriented. 
  • Have strong writing and research skills. 
  • The ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Have the confidence to pitch story ideas and potential guests to show producers. 
  • Previous media training or study in the field is desirable but not essential.

U.K. Apprenticeships

​​​​​​If University isn’t quite your thing, but are looking for a qualification, our apprenticeships may be appealing to you. As an apprentice, you’ll work full-time at a competitive salary. In turn, we’ll pay for you to earn a professional qualification while giving you time off to attend college/training with your peers. Apprenticeships vary in length depending on the qualification you’re studying.
CRITERIA
  • You must be educated to A-Level (standard or equivalent) 
  • No previous experience is required but we want to see your passion for the industry 
  • Our Apprenticeships last between 18-24 months, depending on the qualification 
  • Full-time hours (with 20% dedicated to “off the job” learning)

Other Programs
In Europe

We have many programmes across continental Europe, including France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and The Netherlands. That means whether you’re attending university in Paris or looking to complete a Werkstudent placement in Munich, there are fantastic opportunities for you to gain exceptional work experience while taking on meaningful responsibilities within a supportive and encouraging team.

These roles are hired at different times throughout the year — many of them don’t have a set date yet — so keep an eye on our open roles!

Depending on the role and the country you’re applying to, you may need to be a current student on a recognised university/college course. Other programmes may require you to be a recent graduate. Generally, we’re looking for people who: 
  • Are hardworking and keen to learn 
  • Have a passion for the entertainment industry
